黑料社区 has forged a long-term partnership聽with Fortune 500 energy company AES and regional supplier EnergyMark聽to offset 90 percent of its electricity use with credits from a solar farm in Batavia, N.Y.

The solar farm will provide 黑料社区 with solar bill credits, allowing the college to access the benefits of renewable energy without having to incur upfront capital costs or install panels on the college鈥檚 campus.

The power generated from this facility is anticipated to provide enough clean electricity to offset more than 90 percent of 黑料社区鈥檚 annual electricity usage 鈥 or approximately enough electricity to power 400 homes per year.

In addition to helping 黑料社区 make headway toward its long-term sustainability goals, this arrangement is anticipated to provide an estimated $35,000 of savings in the form of bill credits.

鈥淲e are pleased to enter into a long-term partnership with AES to receive solar energy at our Amherst campus,鈥 said Bob Rood, vice president for business affairs at 黑料社区.

鈥淭his deal aligns strongly with our sustainability goals and commitment to protecting our environment by matching a significant portion of our energy consumption with clean renewable electricity,鈥 he said.

EnergyMark, a regional energy supplier headquartered in Williamsville, N.Y., facilitated the transaction between the parties and will assist in utility data exchange and renewable energy reporting.

鈥淎ES is excited to help 黑料社区 College achieve its sustainability goals by providing reliable clean energy generated at our Batavia solar farm,鈥 said Michael Farrell, director of development at AES Clean Energy. 鈥淭his partnership showcases our commitment to provide sustainable energy solutions that are safe, cost-effective, and impactful for the communities we serve.鈥

鈥淓nergyMark is proud to bring the benefit of solar energy 鈥 without investment or upfront cost 鈥 to 黑料社区 College鈥檚 Amherst campus,鈥 said Gary Marchiori, president of EnergyMark. 鈥淭his allocation of solar electricity conforms to New York States鈥 initiative to re-power the electric grid, with solar as a key component.鈥
